Cesc Fabregas would be a 'fantastic fit' for Liverpool, according to former Reds star Luis Garcia.

The Merseysiders are being linked with a £25million swoop for the Chelsea playmaker, with suggestions they will rival Manchester United for the Spaniard's signature this summer.

Fabregas, a World Cup winner with Spain, has not been a regular starter in the Premier League this season but has played a decisive role in his numerous appearances off the bench.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Garca said of the 29-year-old: "The technique, the ability he has got, the mindset of knowing always what is happening around him, he is one of those players who can fit everywhere.

"Of course, for Liverpool he would be a fantastic fit.

"The other side of this is how fans will receive a Chelsea player! We will see what happens."

  • Liverpool complete signing of Mohamed Salah for an estimated £34m from AS Roma

Liverpool have completed the signing of Mohamed Salah from AS Roma for a fee believed to be around £34m.

The news comes after weeks of speculation, with Liverpool’s approaches for the Egypt international initially being rebuffed by Roma.

But Salah – who recorded 15 goals and 11 assists in Serie A last season – was keen on the move, and on Thursday completed his medical to return to the Premier League.
“I will give 100 per cent and give everything for the club," Salah told the official Liverpool website. "I really want to win something for this club.

“We have a great team and very good players. I was watching the games last year and everyone was giving 100 per cent to win something.

“Everyone can see the coach gives everything. I hope to see that together we can give everything to win something for the club, for the supporters and for us.”
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp struggled to find a solution when his side were without Sadio Mane last season, but the German coach believes that Salah could be the man to solve that issue for the title hopefuls.

“His pace is incredible, he gives us more attacking threat and we are already strong in this area," Klopp said. "I like that we will make it even more competitive.

“He knows the Premier League, he has pedigree in the Champions League and he is one of the most important players for his country. His record in Italy has been outstanding and he possesses qualities that will enhance our team and squad. I have followed him since he emerged at Basel and he has matured into a really good player.

“He is an ambitious player who wants to win and win at the highest level; he knows he can fulfil those ambitions with Liverpool. I welcome him and his family into our Liverpool family.”
This is Salah's second spell in the Premier League. The 25-year-old joined Chelsea in an £11m move from Basel three years ago, but struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge and was shipped out on loan to first Fiorentina and then Roma.

Salah completed a permanent move to Roma for £13m last summer.

  • Lyon in 'advanced talks' to sign Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore

Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has pledged to offer his services to the Grenfell Tower relief effort by helping to find new homes for survivors.

Bertrand, 27, who featured for England in this week's friendly defeat to France in Paris, revealed on Twitter that he wants to help out those affected by the fire disaster by doing more than just donating.
Fifty-eight people are missing and presumed dead and Metropolitan Police Commander Stuart Cundy, the officer in charge of the investigation, has warned the death toll could rise further.

"I went to Grenfell Tower (on Friday). I want to help, not just donate. I can't think of all the answers but I can do what I feel is needed," said Bertrand.
Olympique Lyonnais are expecting competition from various clubs as they hold "advanced talks" to sign midfielder Bertrand Traore from Premier League champions Chelsea, the Ligue 1 team's president Jean-Michel Aulas said.

The 21-year-old, who made 12 appearances for Chelsea in the 2015-16 season, was loaned out to Ajax Amsterdam last season, where he scored 13 goals to help them reach the Europa League final and finish second in the Dutch league.
"We want to bring Bertrand Traore to the club," Aulas told reporters at a press conference to unveil the club's newly signed defender Fernando Marcal.

"There are advanced talks there, but many clubs are interested.

"We absolutely want to do the deal."
