United up the ante with £60m bid for Morata
Manchester United hit Thursday’s back pages with tales of a £60 million bid for Alvaro Morata after their first bid was reportedly rejected by La Liga champions Real Madrid. Having apparently had an initial offer of £52m turned down, the Reds aren’t ready to give up yet. However they may have to, as Mourinho is apparently not prepared to match the £78m the Champions League winners want for the striker.
There have been plenty of rumours circulating around Morata for a while now after it was reported by Spanish media that the 24-year-old was agitating for a move thanks to a lack of playing time. We’re sure he won’t be short of offers, with Chelsea initially the favourites to secure a deal. That said, Morata himself has said he “feels good” at Real Madrid – even if his dad says differently, hinting that United are the front runners. The Reds will definitely be in need of a new striker this summer, and we expect nothing less than an audacious deal when the time comes.
