Antonio Rudiger has revealed his excitement at joining Chelsea after “years” of being linked with a move to the Premier League side.
The Germany international signed for the Blues in a £34million deal earlier this summer from Serie A side Roma.
He had three solid seasons for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga before making the move to Rome – where he made 72 appearances in all competitions over two seasons.
And Rudiger admits he has wanted to move to the Premier League for years after being linked with Chelsea and he’s thankful it has finally happened.
“I wanted to play in the Premier League and it is now years that my name was linked to Chelsea,” Rudiger said.
“Now I am here and I am very happy. I want to thank all of the people who made this come true.”
Rudiger expects the Premier League to be a “challenge” but one he is ready to relish. He added: “I cannot say much about the Premier League because I did not experience it yet.
“But the Italian league is more tactical. You don’t have open games but here in England it is different, both teams are attacking the whole time so that is the main big difference, and of course the physical aspect in England.
“I think the whole league is a big challenge so I need to be prepared for each game.”
