Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Southampton centre-half Virgil van Dijk for a fee understood to be £75 million.
The sum will be a club record – as well as a world record for a defender, and for a player from the Netherlands.
Van Dijk is understood to have undergone a medical on Wednesday, and the Reds announced the move will be finalised when the transfer window opens on January 1.
The 26-year-old will wear squad number 4 on arrival at Anfield.
In a statement posted on Twitter, van Dijk described himself as "delighted and honoured" by the move, adding: "I can't wait to pull on the famous red shirt for the first time in front of the Kop and will give everything I have to try and help this great club achieve something special in the years to come."
